So let’s click away and see what new watches are up for grabs this year!
Under $100
Fossil The Minimalist FS5305
First up is this delectable example from Fossil. Called ‘The Minimalist’, the watch definitely live up to their name, giving you a 44mm timepiece that is simple, clean, and somewhat dressy. With a black case, and white contrasting hands/indices, it is a no-frills simple example of making someone’s ‘Nice’ list.
Timex Weekender Chronograph TW2P62300GP
If you’re looking for more features, the Timex Weekender is great for the man in your life that loves to do laps. With a built-in chronograph, you’ll be able to use the 40mm Timex as a stopwatch and enjoy more than just a simple watch. It has a stark blue face and contrasting white hour markers, giving it a nice pop. The NATO strap adds more ruggedness to this example, which gives it an overall sporty feel.
Casio G-Shock GA100-1A1
A WYCA staple, the Casio G-Shock is a great gift idea for your man under $100. It features the usual G-Shock goodness in a silicone band and case. It’s shock-resistant and more rugged than the Timex Weekender we saw earlier but with more features.
It’s not an example you’d bring to a black-tie affair, but if you can pull it off, more power to you!
Stuhrling Original 699.02 Aviator
Sturhling Original has a unique example in their lineup, called ‘Aviator’. With a day/date indicator at 3 o’clock, it definitely offers something different for not much money. It has various flavors of straps, but we like this cognac brown motif against the steel case and textured face. At 44mm, it’s a big piece but it would be a great addition to anyone who loves to live life fast.
Skagen Jorn Watch
Skagen is Danish design to a tee; clean, simple, and modern. This ‘Jorn’ watch is a minimalist example that’s similar to the Fossil but with a white face. 41mm isn’t that big, so it’s perfect for all men out there that wants a dressy watch and would also look great with jeans on.
Between $100 and $250
Seiko SSB031 Chronograph
Next up is a chronograph example from Seiko. A staple in Japan, Seiko produces great examples that everyone can depend and rely on. The SSB031 offers many features such as a 60 minute elapsed time chronograph, tachymeter functionality, date window at 4 o’clock and 100m water resistance.
This is a great all-steel example of a sports watch and would be a trusty companion for the outdoor type.

Daniel Wellington 0103DW Classic Cambridge
A major utilizer of social media, Daniel Wellington made their name through a digital strategy and created a brand using Instagram. Millions of followers later, we have this Cambridge example from DW. With a 40mm rose gold case, it’s definitely unique in design with multi-color NATO strap as contrast. Featuring a Miyota movement, it has a Japanese heart with Swedish design. Interesting combination, but the masses seem to love it.
Citizen AW1361-10H
This piece from Citizen is another aviation design focused on the pilots in your life. It has a big wrist presence with chunky indicators, and contrasting markers on a black face. It has a 12/24 analog time marker, and with EcoDrive technology, solar power will help this piece running for you. I personally like the marker at 12 o’clock, which is paying homage to the IWC Pilot.
Invicta Men’s 3047 Grand Diver
Invicta has great deals and this Grand Diver is one of them. I love the design of this example, with that rotating green bezel and all-steel case.. With an automatic movement and steel bracelet to boot, it’s a great alternative for quartz technology. The 300m water resistance would be great for the divers in your life. At 49mm, it’s a big watch but the chunky design adds more ruggedness to an already stellar watch.
Orient FDB08005W Esteem Open Heart
Orient has great niche pieces, and this open heart example is no exception. With a visible movement at 9 o’clock, it adds character to an otherwise simple watch. The hour markers have classic undertones, and the blue hands provide depth to an already great example.
Between $250 and $500
Motorola Moto 360 Smartwatch
This example is different from the usual selections, because it’s a smartwatch. Providing connectivity to your smartphone, the Moto 360 is an extension of your most-used device in the modern age. The 360 provides alerts from social media, emails, texts, weather, traffic, flight information, etc. With customizable watch faces, and Gorilla 3 glass the 360 is a strong companion for tech geek man.
Tissot T063.637.16.057.00
From Tissot, we have a fine example from their ‘Tradition’ collection. Featuring a month, day, and date indicators, it gives the wearer a lot of information with one glance. It has a classic layout, with nothing too crazy involved in the watch itself. With a quartz movement, the internals aren’t as special as an automatic movement but offering those three features in an automatic would make the movement so complex and expensive, so I think this is a great compromise to get a feature-rich dress watch for a great price.
Citizen BU2020-02A
The Calendrier from Citizen is a modern take on a worldtimer. Featuring all world timezones in one glance, the Citizen example would be great for the frequent traveler. Multi-timezone functionality is big feature for people who live in a suitcase and the Calendrier would be appreciated as a tool in their lineup.
Mondaine A667.30314.11SBB
Mondaine loves to gather attention: they’re built for the Swiss Railways so legibility is their top concern. This classic gentleman’s example is great Swedish design featuring the distinctive red lollipop second hand. With chunky hands, and a day/date indicator at 3’o clock, the Mondaine would be a perfect dressy watch companion.

Citizen BY0100-51H
Whoa! Another Citizen? I guess we at WYCA just love this Japanese manufacture. And can you blame us? They keep pumping out great examples day-in, day-out! This EcoDrive chrono is more technological than most because it’s radio-controlled. What does that mean? So it features atomic timekeeping, which synchronizes with 20+ timezones, giving you accurate time, anywhere.
This feature makes traveling easier and with a calendar and chronograph to name a few, this piece isn’t light on functions.
Luminox P38 Lightning 9447
Luminox is a great watch brand that focuses on clear vision and luminosity. Their P38 loves to draw your attention and the military influence is all over this watch: leather strap, 24 hour bezel, chunky case, big hour markers, water resistance. Everything is cranked up to 11 in this watch, and it shows.
Victorinox 241374 Infantry Vintage
Victorinox is classic Swiss rugged design and their Infantry lineup would be a great daily watch that can go through day-to-day life. It has a unique day indicator at 12 o’clock, featuring the whole day, and has 24 hour capabilities. With a vintage green face, it’s unique from the other examples you’ve seen which is perfect for the unique man in your life. It has a quartz movement, so don’t example automatic sweeping in this one but don’t discount it on that! This deserves a look.
Bulova 96B175 Precisionist
The Precisionist is a chunky, rugged sports watch from Bulova. Featuring chronograph, tachymeter, and a date function, it has a lot to offer. The industrial steel design, with exposed screws framing the bezel is a nice touch to an already modern watch. This is a biggie at 47mm so be prepared to carry some heft and not skip arm day.
Hamilton H77612933 Khaki Field Chronograph
From Hamilton, we have a big example called the Khaki Field Chronograph. At 42mm, it’s not that big as the competition but the chronograph functionality is very useful in aviation. This is a unique pilot’s watch because it also features ETO or Estimated Time Over. From Hamilton’s website,
“By turning the watch’s bezel to mark the pilots travel speed, desired arrival time and traveling distance, the Khaki ETO makes vital calculations to allow the pilot to plan every detail of the journey ahead, and ensure that he-she arrives at his-her destination on time, every time.”
Over $1,000
Baume and Mercier Capeland A10082
As we dive into the 4-digit range, we get more unique and sometimes complicated timepieces. This Baume and Mercier example is unique with a brown motif throughout, from face to watch band. It adds a classic vibe to any watch wearer and with an automatic movement, it is definitely a discussion point to any soiree. Attention to detail is a must at watches over $1,000 and the little things like red markers to an overall white contrasting marker lineup adds that extra ‘oomph’ and creates a positive presence.
TAG Heuer Formula 1 WAZ211A.BA0875
From TAG, we have a Formula 1 Calibre 7 GMT watch. Featuring a second timezone, this watch is great for the frequent traveler that loves first class lounges or champagne in their flight. It adds elegance that few watches can match and only TAG can deliver. The blue and black motif is certainly a more modern outlook than the counterparts and will you stand out at the TSA line.
Hamilton Ventura H24411732
Getting in touch with your classic roots is great and this Hamilton Ventura will help you get there. With a design faithful since the ‘50s, this uniquely-shaped example has been on the limelight: Elvis Presley loved the Venutra so much that Hamilton dedicated some of their models to The King of Rock and Roll. The Ventura would be a fine gift for the audiophile man!
Omega Seamaster 231.10.39.60.06.001
The Omega Seamaster needs no introduction. An automatic, self-wind unit with 150m water resistance and a simple date function to offer, this is a great example of paying for craftsmanship and quality. The crystal is sapphire so it’s anti-reflective and scratch resistant. You can definitely count on an Omega to outlive you! This Seamaster is perfect for the man that wants to leave heirlooms and their mark for future generations.
IWC Portuguese IW524205
As a watch enthusiast, the IWC is “engineered for men” and the Portuguese is the benchmark for a classic everyday watch. This particular example has a minute repeater, which gives you audible queues of the time. This is truly a classic watch that every aficionado should have if they have the portfolio to get it. You’re going to need more than a trust fund to get it on your wrist, but dare to dream!
